Monday 10th May 2021
18:00pm – 19:30pm
Hosted on Zoom
In this online workshop, you’ll be introduced to the magical world of experimental bookbinding and learn how to make three unique and playful book structures.
You will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating two single-sheet, instant books as well as a star accordion fold using materials and tools you can find around the house or easily sourced.
At the end of the class you will have your very own beautiful handmade books, which you can use as little notebooks, journals or anything else you would like. Instruction hand-outs of what we covered will also be provided, to help you create many more books on your own!
To take part in the workshop you will need the following:
Paper: For the 1st book and 2nd book you will need 2 sheets of white or coloured paper approximately A3 size (30 x 42cm). A4 size (21 x 30cm) will also work, you will just make smaller books!
For the 3rd book you will need 4 square sheets of white or coloured paper (approximately 15 x 15cm)
Some decorative paper like wrapping paper, book or magazine pages.
1 piece of board to use for covers, approximately 21 x 30cm. This can be any kind of stiff board like a piece of a brown cardboard box or mount board for example.
Glue stick / Pencil / Scissors / Ruler / A wooden spoon or butter knife
The workshop will be hosted via Zoom, which you need to download if you haven’t already! A link for the class will be sent on the day before the workshop and again prior to the start time –if you don’t receive an email in your inbox please check your junk folders.–
