A centuries-old art, paper marbling is a fun and creative way to decorate paper with stunning, colourful patterns. Traditionally used to create beautiful endpapers and covers for books and to decorate writing material for calligraphy and stationery. This workshop will introduce you to the techniques, tools and materials used in this craft and enable you to experiment with colours, inks and paints to create a variety of traditional and contemporary marbling designs.
You will learn how to set up your marbling tank, prepare paper for marbling, mix and manipulate paints with a variety of tools such as brushes, combs and needles. There will be plenty of time for creative experimentation to also explore your own ideas and create unique designs.
At the end of the workshop you will have a selection of your own marbled papers and you will be shown how you can use them in a variety of creative ways such as simple books, cards and stationery.
